This wine was grown at Church Road's Matapiro Vineyard in the cooler Crownthorpe Terraces sub-region of Hawke's Bay. This is their most elevated and inland vineyard, where greater fluctuations between day and night-time temperatures are perfect for cultivating aromatics and acidity. Ripe pear, floral and spice aromas are evident on the nose. This Pinot Gris has a fine acid balance and a touch of natural sweetness that helps to build a palate that is soft and approachable, yet still elegant and fresh.
